Renewables Projects: Acting for various contractors, including Downer EDI & R&L Solar in contract negotiations and/or contract reviews for various Solar Projects, Power Stations and Wind Projects including Sunshine Solar, Ross River Solar Farm and Kennedy Energy Park, Power Laverton Power Station, Kemerton Power Station, Clare Solar Farm Kingfisher, Clermont Solar Farm and Haughton Solar Farm.

Parramatta Square Redevelopment ($2.7 billion): Acting for City of Parramatta Council in the largest urban renewal projects in the country. This project included the design and construction of a Riverside Theatre, Aquatic Centre, Discovery Centre, Civic Centre, Premium Grade Office and Retail Towers. Our involvement also included advisory work on all aspects of the Project including tendering, project deed negotiations, contract administration and dispute resolution.

Westgate Tunnel Project ($1.2 billion): Acting for John Holland and CPB Contractors on the Westgate tunnel project currently under construction. Involvement included advising key commercial managers on strategy and risks in claims against the State.

NSW Rolling Stock Public Private Partnership ($3.6 billion): Acting for Downer EDI in the design and manufacture of the State’s next generation suburban passenger trains for RailCorp. Involvement included the day-to-day legal support over five years from bid phase through to design development and manufacturing.

Cross City Tunnel project ($680 million): Acting for Downer Engineering in the administration of head contract. Involvement included assistance with preparing delay, disruption and variation claims to head contractor; involvement in mediation, settlement discussions and preparing pleadings and evidence for arbitration.

Delivering peace of mind for property owners

The Owners Strata Plan No. 93810 v KCN Construction & Anor: Jessica is acting for an Owners Corporation in the Supreme Court in relation to a luxury development defects in Castle Hill. The proceedings relate to fire safety, water proofing and mechanical ventilation defects in the building and advice on claims against the certifier for negligent certification. Jessica assisted the client with dealing with Council on fire safety orders as well as briefing and managing a series of experts required for the proceedings.

Owners Corporation Strata Plan No. 79633 v Deicorp Construction & Anor: Jessica successfully settled proceedings for her client who was being sued for defective works claim at a high-rise apartment complex in Erskineville. The case involved drafting of pleadings, affidavits and facilitating a successful mediation to settle the claims where the main issues involved defective water proofing.

The Owners – Strata Plan 76829 v Deicorp Pty Ltd: These proceedings involved a number of defective works claims including water proofing, hydraulic and fire safety issues. The matter involved liaising with experts, facilitating mediation between the parties, negotiating and drafting settlement documentation. Jessica advised and facilitated negotiations which ultimately led to settlement of the proceedings for her client.

Completion of Thesis in Strata and Home Building Laws: Jessica completed her Masters in Construction Law which included a thesis on the strata living crisis in NSW and how the home warranty insurance scheme can be revamped to protect those living in strata title units. A copy of this thesis is available on request.
